Meet the New Doctor
While new to GVC, Dr. Barkhurst has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years and brings her wealth of experience and best medicine focus to our pet families in Gualala and the Northern California Coastal region.
When asked why I chose Gualala – all I do is glance east and west. I love the mountains and the ocean and have never found a spot like Gualala where you can enjoy both, and the small town community that makes life and practice so enjoyable. I’m also a diehard Niners fan, so being close to the Bay may have had some impact on the decision – Go Niners!
I love animals, but more than this, I love the effect animals have on people. If we could all live life as a Labrador retriever waiting for the ball to be thrown or a furry feline using their parent’s head for pillow – what a joyous existence this would be.
I have spent my career focused on patient care and trying to make sure families feel supported. I will always practice for the patient first. This not only involves their medical and surgical care, but a family’s education and support as well. I strive to ensure families know that anything I advise or do will always be with a families combined best interests in view.
